Angelo Stiller is VfB Stuttgart's first-choice defensive midfielder and a Germany international, whose €36.5 million release clause expired in July 2026 with the 25-year-old staying put.

Career

A Bayern Munich II graduate, he spent two seasons at Hoffenheim before Stuttgart signed him on 25 August 2023 on a four-year deal. In January 2025 he extended that contract to 2028.

By April 2026 German journalists had voted him into the Bundesliga Team of the Season. Summer interest from Manchester United and others ran into a release clause that expired on 15 July 2026; reporting then was that he would remain in Stuttgart.

How they play

A left-footed holding midfielder, he takes the first pass from centre-backs, turns, and plays forward rather than recycling sideways. Stuttgart build most of their settled attacks through him.

Where they are now

He is Stuttgart's No. 6 heading into 2026–27, contracted until 2028, after a summer in which his release clause lapsed and the club kept him.
