Brian Brobbey

An Ajax academy striker, Brobbey had a brief RB Leipzig spell before returning to Ajax. Wikipedia records his Sunderland move on 1 September 2025 for a €20m fee that could rise to €25m (other English reports used £17m–£21.6m).

His first Sunderland goal was an 8 November 2025 injury-time equaliser in a 2–2 draw with Arsenal. He finished 2025-26 as Sunderland's top scorer with seven Premier League goals in 31 appearances, including the winner in a Tyne-Wear derby at Newcastle, and FourFourTwo noted those contributions were worth 11 points.

At World Cup 2026 he scored twice in a 5–1 win over Sweden after a substitute cap against Japan, and FourFourTwo (20 August 2026) said three goals in three starts made him the Netherlands' first-choice No. 9. Sunderland have publicly resisted summer offers, with a contract to 2029.
