Darwin Núñez's big-money move to Al Hilal turned into a squeeze on the club's foreign-player list, and he now heads out on loan for 2026-27.

Career

Núñez left Liverpool for Al Hilal in a permanent deal worth up to €65m in August 2025, closing a three-year Anfield spell of 143 appearances and 40 goals after arriving from Benfica in 2022.

Saudi Pro League foreign-player limits caught up with him in February 2026, when Al Hilal deregistered him from their domestic-league list, leaving him eligible only for AFC Champions League football.

A reported deal to return to Liverpool during 2026 did not go through; instead he is set to spend 2026-27 on loan at Al Diriyah while Al Hilal keeps his registration.
