Ecuador’s all-time leading scorer (49 in 109) came through Emelec, exploded at Pachuca in 2014, then played for West Ham, Everton (loan), Tigres, Fenerbahçe and Internacional. He returned to Pachuca in September 2025, scoring eight in 22 games, and started all four of Ecuador’s 2026 World Cup matches before a last-16 exit to Mexico.

Pachuca announced on 8 July 2026 that the one-year deal was done — 26 goals in 47 games across two spells, inside the club’s historical top 20. Boca presented him on 9 August; he debuted as a substitute in a 4–0 Copa Sudamericana win over Recoleta on 18 August.

A penalty-box striker who still leads the line at 36. Arruabarrena used him from the bench in his first three Boca games (Recoleta, Racing, Lanús) while he built match fitness.

FotMob has three Boca appearances and no goals by 29 August 2026. He retired from Ecuador after the World Cup to concentrate on club football; Hernán Galíndez, his international teammate, helped talk him into Buenos Aires rather than a return to Emelec.
