Lucas Hernández started Paris Saint-Germain’s 2026–27 Ligue 1 opener at Rennes on 23 August, preferred at left-back to summer signing Lucas Digne while Nuno Mendes was suspended.
Career
Born in Marseille and raised at Atlético Madrid, he won a treble in his first season at Bayern Munich after a 2019 move, then joined PSG in July 2023 on a five-year deal worth a reported €40 million. A second treble, including the 2025 Champions League, followed in Paris.
A right-knee ACL at the 2022 World Cup cost him the rest of that season. At PSG he has been used at both centre-back and left-back; L’Équipe noted Luis Enrique picking him ahead of Digne for the Rennes trip.

A left-footed defender comfortable at centre-back or as an attacking full-back. Aggressive in duels, with the overlapping instinct of a wide defender when asked to play the corridor.
Where they are now
ESPN lists him as PSG defender #21 on a contract through June 2028. He started the 2–2 at Rennes on 23 August 2026 and was an unused-then-sub option in the UEFA Super Cup win over Aston Villa on 12 August.
