Marquinhos
Defender · Paris Saint-Germain
Marquinhos joined Paris Saint-Germain from Roma in 2013 and became club captain in 2020. His career in Paris has included the club’s first Champions League title and its all-time appearance record.
Career
After developing at Corinthians, the Brazilian defender moved to Roma in 2012. Paris Saint-Germain signed him the following summer, when he was nineteen.
He formed a central-defensive partnership with Thiago Silva and took over the captaincy after Silva’s departure in 2020. His 436th PSG appearance in April 2024 took him beyond Jean-Marc Pilorget’s previous club record.
How they play
PSG’s profile identifies Marquinhos as a centre-back; its earlier career account also describes his ability to cover midfield. That versatility has accompanied a long spell leading the defence.
Where they are now
He captained PSG in the 5–0 Champions League final victory over Inter on 31 May 2025.
