Saud Abdulhamid is Lens's right-back, the first Saudi to play in Ligue 1, now signed permanently until 2029 after a Coupe de France and a Trophée des Champions in twelve months.

Career

A Jeddah-born Al-Ittihad graduate, he won domestic titles at Al-Hilal before a 2024–25 season at Roma. Lens took him on a season-long loan with an option on 3 August 2025; his Ligue 1 debut was a 0–1 loss to Lyon on 16 August, the first Saudi appearance in the competition (Wikipedia).

He started the 22 May 2026 Coupe de France final, a 3–1 win over Nice — Wikipedia calls him the first Saudi to win a major European club trophy. Lens exercised the buy option on 4 June 2026 (club statement) and he added the 2026 Trophée des Champions, 1–0 over Paris Saint-Germain on 16 August.

How they play

A 1.71 m attacking right-back. Sporting director Jean-Louis Leca, in the 4 June club release, credited him with eight Ligue 1 assists in 25 appearances in 2025–26 and called pace and crossing the traits they had signed him for.

Where they are now

Gradient/RotoWire: he scored in Lens's 5–2 win over Auxerre on 22 August 2026, then was ruled out of the 29 August trip to Strasbourg with a swollen contusion. Coach Dino Toppmöller told Lensois he did not yet know the return date; UEFA's calendar has Slavia Prague away on 10 September in the Champions League.

RC Lens's own site (retrieved 31 August 2026) still frames the 2029 contract as live. FotMob lists the same expiry and a knock dated 22 August.
