Abdülkerim Bardakçı is Galatasaray’s captain and starting centre-back for 2026–27, having taken the armband after Mauro Icardi left, and has already played the opening Süper Lig fixtures.
Career
A Konyaspor academy graduate, he spent a decade at his hometown club with loans at Adana Demirspor, Samsunspor, Giresunspor, Denizlispor and Altay before Galatasaray paid a reported €2.8 million in 2022. He has since won four straight Süper Lig titles (2022–23 through 2025–26).
He reached 100 official Galatasaray appearances in December 2024 and was named in Turkey’s 2026 World Cup squad. Turkish Wikipedia notes he became first-choice captain after Icardi’s departure ahead of 2026–27; Dutch Wikipedia independently records the same.

Where they are now
FotMob has him starting both of Galatasaray’s opening 2026–27 Süper Lig matches (174 minutes). Transfermarkt lists the contract through 30 June 2027. TGRT reported in late August that the club is still looking for another centre-back alongside him and Sánchez.
