Angus Gunn
Goalkeeper · San Jose Earthquakes
Angus Gunn is Scotland's goalkeeper who joined the San Jose Earthquakes in July 2026 after Nottingham Forest released him three days before Scotland's World Cup opener.
Career
A Manchester City academy graduate and the son of Bryan Gunn, he had loans at Norwich before a permanent move there in 2021, making 114 Championship and Premier League appearances. Forest signed him on a one-year deal on 6 August 2025 as cover for Matz Sels.
His only Forest appearance came on 1 February 2026, a half-time replacement for the injured Sels against Crystal Palace. Forest released him on 10 June 2026; Talksport noted the timing — three days before Scotland opened their World Cup. San Jose signed him on 13 July 2026 through June 2030.
How they play
A 6 ft 5 in shot-stopper, he is used to playing behind a high line from his Norwich years and claims crosses more readily than he sweeps.
Where they are now
He started MLS matches for San Jose after the World Cup and is contracted until 2030. Scotland had already used him in qualifying, including four starts on the road to 2026.
