Benjamin Tahirović is still contracted to Brøndby until 2028, but the club have allowed him to test the market this summer and Genk had a bid on the table in late August.
Career
Born in Spånga, he came through AIK and Djursholm, then played at Vasalund before Roma (2021–23) and Ajax (2023–25). Brøndby signed him in February 2025 on a deal to June 2028 for a reported €2.75 million, with Ajax keeping a 20% sell-on.
He has more than 30 caps for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Wikipedia has 40 Brøndby league games and a first goal there on 27 October 2025 against Odense; FotMob lists 49 appearances in all competitions.
How they play
A 1.91 m defensive or central midfielder, comfortable sitting and progressing the ball. Brøndby football director Julius Ohnesorge has pointed to his World Cup minutes as part of why larger European clubs have been calling.
Where they are now
Coach Thomas Nørgaard told Bold in early August that the player was exploring a move and had been left out of the opening Superliga rounds. On 27 August Bold and TV 2 Sport reported he missed training because Genk had bid — Sacha Tavolieri put the package at around €4 million — but no completed transfer had been announced by 29 August, so he remains a Brøndby player.
