Career
A Servette graduate, he won the Swiss Super League with Young Boys, then played for Borussia Mönchengladbach, Juventus and a 2022–23 loan at Chelsea. Monaco signed him on 14 August 2023 on a five-year contract (club / Wikipedia).
Wikipedia's club line, as of 27 August 2026, gives him 25+26+24 Ligue 1 appearances across 2023–26 and one league game plus two European appearances at the start of 2026–27. Monaco's own site still introduces him as captain ahead of the Marseille fixture on 29 August 2026.
How they play
A 1.91 m defensive midfielder who can step into a back three. Monaco's site has used him at centre-back under Sébastien Pocognoli — he was named app MVP after a 2–0 win over Angers in March 2026, his fourth such award of that season.
Where they are now
On 29 August 2026 he told the club's pre-Marseille press conference he wanted three points at the Stade Louis-II after the Conference League playoff win over Górnik Zabrze. He remains Monaco captain; the club site confirmed the same day.
He went to the 2026 World Cup with Switzerland — Monaco announced his call-up on 20 May — and came off the bench as Switzerland beat Canada 2–1 to win their group (club report, 25 June 2026).
