Édouard Mendy captains Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli, the Senegal goalkeeper who won back-to-back AFC Champions League Elite titles in Jeddah and extended his contract through 2028.

Career

Born in Montivilliers, he reached the Premier League via Cherbourg, Reims and Rennes. Chelsea signed him in September 2020; he kept goal in the 2021 Champions League final. Al-Ahli signed him on 28 June 2023 for a fee reported in British media at around £16 million.

On 3 May 2025 he was in the Al-Ahli side that beat Kawasaki Frontale to win the club's first AFC Champions League Elite. Wikipedia records a further Elite title in 2025–26, 1–0 after extra time against Machida Zelvia, with Mendy lifting the trophy as captain. He extended until June 2028 in December 2025 (Transfermarkt).

A 1.94 m shot-stopper who plays as a sweeper-keeper when Al-Ahli build from the back. Transfermarkt lists 59 Senegal caps; he started Senegal's 2026 World Cup group games against France and Norway.
