Yassine Bounou remains Al Hilal's first-choice goalkeeper on a contract the club extended through 2028, and he played all three of Morocco's 2026 World Cup group games as they reached the round of 32.

Career

Born in Montreal, he came through Wydad Casablanca, then Atlético Madrid, Real Zaragoza, Girona and Sevilla, where he won the UEFA Europa League. He joined Al Hilal in 2023.

On 16 October 2025 Al Hilal announced a two-year extension keeping him until 2028, citing four titles with the club including the King's Cup, two Saudi Super Cups and the Roshn Saudi League, plus the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup quarter-finals (Al Hilal FC).

How they play

A 1.95 m shot-stopper known for penalties. In Al Hilal's 5–1 win at Al-Khaleej on 28 August 2026 he saved Moussa Barrow's spot-kick after a Kalidou Koulibaly handball that VAR upheld (Africa Soccer).

Where they are now

He is at Al Hilal through 2028 (club announcement, 16 October 2025). Al Hilal's own site on 25 June 2026 recorded him in all three Morocco group matches at the World Cup — a clean sheet against Scotland, then the 4–2 win over Haiti that took Morocco into the round of 32.
