David Raum captains RB Leipzig, the Germany left-back who joined from Hoffenheim in 2022 and was retained as skipper by new coach Martín Demichelis for 2026–27.
Career
A Greuther Fürth graduate from Nuremberg, he broke through in the 2. Bundesliga and then started 32 Bundesliga games for Hoffenheim in 2021–22. Leipzig signed him on 31 July 2022 on a five-year deal through 2027.
Wikipedia named him Leipzig captain on 14 August 2025. Roundtable reported on 21 August 2026 that Demichelis kept him as captain, with Christoph Baumgartner as vice-captain. He told Sky/BILD in late August he was entering his final contract year and had not spoken to other clubs.
How they play
A left-footed overlapping full-back who can play higher as a left midfielder. He scored his first Germany goal from a free-kick against Luxembourg in World Cup qualifying, in his 31st cap (DieSachsen).
Where they are now
DieSachsen reported on 31 August 2026 that he suffered an ankle injury in Leipzig's 1–0 defeat at Heidenheim on Sunday and had already left the DFB camp in Herzogenaurach, so he will miss the international window.
CentreDevils quoted his late-August remarks: inquiries had come because of the contract year, but 'as of now, I'm looking forward to the season with Leipzig.'
